As the Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for Providing Technical Engineering Support to the In Service Support (ISS) projects during online and offline activities. Develop and support the implementation of technical solutions to engineering challenges in order to maximise up time of Naval and Government marine assets.

What’s Involved
- Develop a range of engineering deliverables, including: Maintenance and repair plans, Technical instructions, Technical risk assessments and analyses, Deviations and Requests for Problem Resolution, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Provision of general engineering advice.
- Produce accurate documentation that meets all procedural, regulatory, and audit
- Ensure vessel designs comply with relevant regulatory authorities, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Manage and review design inputs from third parties, including drawings, certifications, and manuals.
- Select and prepare requisitions for electrical power, control, automation components, and associated devices.
- Prepare detailed designs and drawings, including calculations, schematics, and supporting technical data.
- Design systems such as power generation and distribution, control, lighting and power arrangements, automation, emergency shutdown, navigation, and communication systems.
- Provide design support during production, commissioning, and delivery phases.
You’ll Need
Essential
- Formal degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, recognised by Engineers Australia for Professional Engineer (Member) registration (or working towards this).
- Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering software.
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of LV and ELV power generation and distribution systems.
- Solid competency in electrical engineering calculations (e.g., short-circuit analysis, battery calculations).
- Advanced AutoCAD skills.
- Good understanding of production methods and the practical application of design.
- More than 3 years of relevant industry experience.
Desirable
- Experience working within Defence or Defence-related environments.
- Experience in asset management and maintenance.
- Understanding of technical risk management and safety systems.
- Additional experience or knowledge in computer-aided drafting.
